Amazon Prime Day Basics

Dates

October 13-14, 2020

What is it?

A bunch of deals. Some run out fast, so I suggest watching the “upcoming deals” and flagging them so that you can order any you really want, since some sell out rather fast. But, some other deals are not limited.

But, can anyone use it?

No. For Prime Day deals, you need an Amazon Prime account. BUT, if you do not have one yet, sign up for a free trial here now!

Discounted Membership

For some people, this may also be an option to benefit from Amazon Prime (for more than 30 days), and save some money on the membership fees.

Also, students can get up to 50% off an Amazon Prime membership.

Other things to know about Amazon Prime Day (from my past experience)

Types of Deals to Look For

Now, there are lightning deals that run out fast and only last for a short period; however, there are ways to watch upcoming deals (which usually is an option as well for lightening deals, but not always); it can be helpful to see “upcoming deals” just so you know what may be coming up and whether it is something you want to follow.

There will be other more general deals though. And usually, those are featured rather prominently on the front page – along with how to find them.

Other Ways to Keep Track of Deals

But, you can also use the Amazon App, the browser plug-in extension Amazon Assistant, or Alexa! Those are a bit easier sometimes. But keep a watch out on the main Amazon.com webpage.

Amazon App

There are sometimes extra incentives or perks if you use the Amazon App. But, if that does not happen this year, either way I suggest learning more on how to get notified when certain deals go live (that you are watching), how to watch a deal, get personalized notifications, and more about the Amazon app here.

Another note:

As mentioned right above, in the past, there have sometimes been additional chances to score some free Amazon credit that may only be revealed during the Prime Day(s) on the app or the days close to Prime Day. So pay attention!

See below too for more ways as well.

Start looking for deals now!

But really, if there is something you have been thinking of getting lately, start looking out for deals.

Why? Because: (1) there are also early deals happening now before Amazon Prime Day; and (2) there are many articles that say what deals are so far known.

But if you have an idea of what department you may be looking for something, then you can more easily search for it on Prime Day. Or add an alert to the app to help simplify your life. Plus, some deals are here!

My thoughts on Amazon Prime Day?

Believe me, you can save quite a bit during this event – of course, depending on what it is you need, but I would say there is something for anyone.

Final Thoughts

So, make sure you link your Prime account for a lot of the deals offered through Amazon. Again, if you are trying to score free Amazon gift card credit, there are many apps where you can!

See my posts on:

Master List of Ways to Make Money and How to Earn Free Amazon Gift Cards. Also, I recommend looking at my post on Browser Extensions to get some extra savings.

But, keep in mind that there really are tons of other options out there! Also, for extra perks with welcome bonuses with sign-ups for websites, services and apps, check out my Referral Codes – Master List.

But some more last-reminder tips…

Remember: Do Not Forget to Activate Offers, Redeem Points, Follow Conditions, Etc.

But, for all of these things you need to make sure to:

(1) Do things such as activate an offer (some it seems you need to do with Amazon.com’s free credit promotions), or redeem your points if it is say an app or website that you want to redeem your points/earnings for an Amazon gift card;

(2) Pay attention to the timing or any terms and conditions – because it can take a little bit of time with some apps and websites. But, with the Amazon offers for Amazon Prime Day free credit, they do not take as long. However, it is still a good idea to take a quick look at the terms so you earn it!;

(3) Check your email and redeem your credit!!!; and

(4) Know if it needs to be spent on Prime Day (October 13-14) or if it is a general credit, or if there are restrictions on categories it can be used towards or expirations.

And some other final (or recapped) tips:
  • Use the Amazon App.
  • Watch deals.
  • Get a free Prime membership trial if you do not otherwise have one.
  • Think of having a list of things you may want in advance; so that when you see the deal, you can jump on it.
  • And Follow the Amazon Prime Day deals, which you can here. There are some early deals and pre-announced ones already.
So, I am mentioning the app (yet again)!!

Since this will really help you score your Amazon Prime Day free credit plus watch deals easier, I want to re-mention the app. Learn more about the Amazon app here.

Personally, I think it will help you get more out of the Prime Day deals, including more personalized notifications (which you can learn even more about that aspect for Prime Day here) and the ability to watch deals.

Also, and no promises, because I do not know myself, but in the past, I have seen extra little Amazon Prime Day free credit offers found by using the app in the past with other Amazon Prime Days.

Another helpful tool that can help make suggestions and compare prices is the Amazon Assistant browser plug-in. To download or learn more, go here.
