A How to – Easy Storage Can DIY Solution for Home

So while staying at home, I am sure you have one of the materials needed to do this fun and easy storage cans DIY solution project. And trust me, this one is easy, quick, and a nice way to get some colorful storage for your home office, craft room, apartment, house, etc. So, here is how.

Easy Storage Can DIY Solution for Home

Now a How to Create an Easy Fun Storage Can DIY for Your Home or Home Office or Wherever!

Step 1 – Use a Can Instead of Throwing it Away!

This step is pretty easy. Basically, just next time you have a soup can (or a similar tin can), instead of throwing it away, tear off the label. Then wash it off. But after you do, I suggest placing it on a paper towel or it could possibly add rust to your sink. Some cans are easier to tear labels off than others. So do not get discouraged if one does not come off easily. I would suggest just trying another.

Step 2 – Spray Paint the Fun Easy Storage Can DIY Solution!

Here is one of the spray paints I used for mine.

But, note that you could opt for another type of paint. I will warn though that I have tried others and have had the most luck with spray paint. So just make sure you do this in a well ventilated area. Also, it may need more than one coat. Let it dry after each coat and then bring it inside.

Another note – you may want to use a primer first. This will help it go on a bit more smoothly. For example, this is what I used with the teal can first.

Step 3 – Let the Can Dry and Repaint if Needed

This step is important! Usually spray paint dries pretty fast, but you may need to do a few coats to have it looking covered and clean. And then, the more fun part…

Step 4 – Add the Craft Tape (also called Washi Tape)

For this st, I got the inspiration from Pinterest. And there are many, many tapes to choose from. Here is the one I went with

But this is just a matter of personal preference and how you want to style your cans. (The same goes with which color paint you choose!)

Then, when you have picked out your tape, you can add it pretty quick! I admit mine could have been done a bit more smoothly, but it was fun nonetheless and I liked the outcome.

Final Thoughts

So I liked this project a lot because it is pretty cost effective and a great way to get some fun storage items into your home. It is also quick and easy. And it can be personalized however you want to via the spray paint color or the tape. Plus, you can get creative with how you do this and add labels for extra organization. So, this can be a fun stay at home activity for your at home office. And a nice distraction.

I hope everyone finds distractions from the stress of the current situation and stays stafe.
