Save with Even More Cash Back Apps
Here are some additional cash back apps that everyone should check out to easily save money. They are easy because they let you streamline it by just linking a credit card and also by letting you save on things you get anyways (like gas or groceries).
1. Drop
This is such a SIMPLE, easy method to get points for using your linked card at places you show at anyways. ALSO: through the end of May, if you get 5 people to sign up and link a card, you get $50.Â
- Available: the app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
- Visit this link for Drop’s site where you can easily get directed to either platform to download the app.
- Referral Program? Yes.
- Invite a friend and give them 1,000 ($1) Drop points and you will also earn 1,000 ($1) Drop points. You can earn $100 this way.
- Use my code if signing up: janq5
- After, use yours and invite friends.
- Overview: this app lets you get cash back from certain participating places. They change over time and rotate. It also has rewards (via points) for trying out other things like other cash-back or savings type apps.
- When you go into the app, it will bring up any new deals. Some are limited time (which usually mean more points). Others are for trying out others apps or services. Some last a while (my grocery store has been on there consistently). So you do not HAVE to keep going in to add them. And honestly I do not see new ones I am that interested in more than once a week max.
- Payout Method: when you spend you get points versus straight cash back.
- The points can be redeemed for gift cards.
- None are exactly cash back and the closest I would consider to cash back (based on the fact I use them a lot) is Amazon gift cards. No PayPal from what I have seen.
Bonuses and Pros/Cons for This App
- Bonuses:Â Do not ignore this tab on the app.
- It is an easy way to get extra points for various things. Some are as simple as linking a card, just joining drop, getting your first points, etc.
- But you need to go to the tab and click on the bonus to redeem your points.
- ALSO, each 5 times you get points, it activates a Drop Supercharge.
- What is this? It is similar to the old snake game that used to be on old cell phones. Except this version lets you play the game for some extra points. FUN!
- PROS:
- Drop almost got its own post because I downloaded it and forgot about it until I got an email about how many points I had.
- Well its THAT easy to save with it.
- I do have a Whole Foods deal linked to my credit card and Whole Foods is the closest grocery store to me.
- However, there are other things that I think many would use. This will depend on location and references. They rotate too so give it time!
- Drop almost got its own post because I downloaded it and forgot about it until I got an email about how many points I had.
- Con: I suppose I am always all about the cash back or PayPal option. However, it has Amazon and likely has other places for things you may shop at anyways. May as well just get some gift card towards it.
- So far, I trust it for linking my information. And I am paranoid. But this may be an issue for those that do not.
- Honestly, I suggest watching your statement. I do and if I see anything I notice immediately. If I see an issue with any I mention on my blog, or hear of a security issue, I will update about that immediately.
- MY ADVICE: TRY THIS APP.
Bottom line: I love streamlining savings when its made so easy you can forget about it. Until you collect of course. 🙂
2. Dosh
- Available: the app is on the App Store and Google Play.
- Visit my link to the Dosh site here which gives you a link to how to get the app at both places.
- Referral Program? Yes.
- Invite a friend and when they use your referral code and link a card, then you both get $5.
- Use my referral code via this link:Â https://link.dosh.cash/k7pbuqud9M.
- Overview: another app to link your card for cash back. This is more for local restaurants (versus Drop that has grocery and retail stores as well as trying out other apps and services) and for travel services.
- When you link a card, you get your $5 bonus AND it automatically activates all nearby cash back offers. So EASY! No flipping through and saying yes I want this. It uses your location and adds nearby businesses (primarily restaurants).
- Also has travel rewards which give big discounts. And a bonus when you use it to book your first hotel.
- Payout Method/Rewards: this is in the form of cash back.
- Once you hit a balance of $25, you can transfer that out.
- Alternatively, there is also a donate option.
Note about Dosh – Yelp and Linking a Card
- If you have used Yelp to order food, Yelp has a cash back program and it may have automatically added your credit card to that program.
- I am not crazy happy about this and only found out by trying to use Dosh. I got an error that my card was linked to Yelp and to deactivate it. If this happens to you, check your Yelp account.
- My view on all of this: I am cautiously optimistic about this app.
- If my opinion changes much after I use this app a bit more, I will update it.
- Note: It gets good reviews.
- I recommend keeping track of your credit card statement and who has your information in general, not just if you use these apps or sites.
3. Upside (or GetUpside)
- Available: get the app – called GetUpside – on the App Store or Google Play.
- It is usually referred to as simply Upside, but the app itself is called GetUpside on both the App Store and Google Play.
- Referral Program? Yes. Use my link here: https://upside.app.link/3SXU2
- By using my link, it gets us both a 20¢/gal bonus on savings on gas.
- Overview: get cash back by scanning receipts for gas stations. Also, you can get cash back for some grocery stores and restaurants in the Washington, DC area. If this expands to additional areas, I will update that.
- Save on gas (and possibly food & groceries). I think this is a good thing to check out if you drive. You may as well get some cash back on that.

Holiday Promotions & Summer Sales – Easily Save MONEY by Buying during these deals
Summer time and holidays bring A LOT of deals and a great way to easily save money.
- Note that if you miss out on them during the holiday weekend, many go on all month.
- Right now, there are many Memorial Day deals out. But there will be other holiday and summer deals.
- If you buy during these times, you can easily save money by getting a huge discount on something you may be planning to buy anyways.
- It could mean just waiting a few days or week to make a major purchase. Consider this. Or you may just find some GREAT deals.
Check out eBay’s Memorial Day savings here.
There are also extra promotions available for some apps and sites.
Notably, Ibotta (get via my link here), Drop (see above), and Ebates (get the app and sign up for the website and chrome extension plugin using my referral link:Â https://www.ebates.com/r/CLAURE106?eeid=28187)
- A lot of these are offering extra cash back for Memorial Day. In the past, I have seen that for other summer holidays as well.
- Also, a lot are offering extra bonus incentives for referring friends for a limited time (Ibotta and Drop are two of them). The limited time ones are usually capped for a certain amount of referrals.
- Since they pay higher than usual, they are something to check out!
- So sign up and refer friends to get your bonus too.
