Richie Kern – A Remembrance
Richie Kern
Richard (“Richie”) Byrnes Kern passed away in Arlington, Virginia on December 18, 2019 from a sudden rare condition at the age of 32. He was born in Reno, Nevada on May 20, 1987, and lived in many other places before his last home in Arlington, Virginia.
While such a warm person, he always asked about other people and how they were doing. His compassion was touching. He was also amazing at art and business; remarkably representing the best of two often different worlds. But, he would ask about you first before describing his own accomplishments. Richie touched everyone who he met, no matter how brief the interaction. He is survived and missed by many loved ones.
Bench in Honor of Richard (Richie) Kern
In his loving memory, there is a plaque in his honor on a bench at Fort C. F. Smith Park in Arlington, Virginia. To visit this park, find out additional information here: https://parks.arlingtonva.us/locations/fort-cf-smith-park/.

He Will Be Missed
I will miss him every day and cannot be more thankful for having him in my life. This sudden death is difficult to process. For anyone that has experienced a sudden loss of life, my deepest condolences.
True love never dies. Instead, it brings the best out in you; it makes you more capable to appreciate life and the beauty that love can bring out in you and in the world.
Even if that is not yet noticeable during your grief or times such as a pandemic.
Really, what is most important is never to forget the ones you lost. And tell their story.
You live as long as the last person that remembers you. So, that is what I will do for you.
Other Thoughts
While I often do not share personal details, or have not shared much about myself or other people by name on my blog, I think this is an exception. Richie was truly a gift, tragically had his life cut too short. And he deserves to be remembered. 💞
